A long time ago, on an internet far, far away, I came across the most ridiculous name generator I have ever seen. I laughed so hard.
It was a Batman Name Generator. The reason I laughed so hard was because I looked it over for other possible combinations. Here it is.

SEE! How funny is that? That’s just so stupid, it’s great. I love it. Now, what does this have to do with anything? Well, recently I came across another name generator that was a tad more complicated and clearly intended for a children’s birthday party. Now, I would post it here, but (he he. I typed ‘but’), it would ruin the mystique. The build-up. And there isn’t much of either of those things, so I’m not going to.
I know, this really makes you wanna keep reading. Am I right? (I hope so)
Anyway… Anyway, I decided to compile names from the list for my buddies. All of which I have mentioned here at least once. What is the title of the name generator? Good question. It’s ‘What’s your Cowboy name?’
Yes, you read that correctly.
This is all pointless dribble, but still… Fun is fun.
As I looked over the list, I couldn’t help but laugh at the way it was set up to get the results. It was different than many I had seen before, and not just in the way it included a third element to get part of your name. It was more about that the middle name was a sort of nickname for you. So, not only are you getting a new name, but you are also getting a nickname to go with it. This is just genius level of stupid fun.
The kit came with nametags for you to write down the new cowboy names of the children who were attending the party. “Here’s your new cowboy name, kid. Plus, a cowboy nickname. Enjoy.” Then slap that sticker on them and let them play. I do have to say that I was very impressed by the possible combinations that were available. Then, it hit me. I needed to do something stupid, too. So, I involved my friends.
For quite some time now, I have been involved in a Marco Polo group. In this group, there are five of us. Somewhere in this blog, I have mentioned each of them, to a greater or lesser degree. There is Erich (childhood friend and comrade in arms), Richard (about the same as Erich), Jason (cousin to Erich and good friend), Andy (his wife is a good friend from high school, I dated her sister), and then there’s me (I shouldn’t have to explain my relationship to myself). Erich started this group so that we could all stay in regular contact with each other. Here we post random thoughts or questions. We chat with each other. Share. Seek help. Ask questions. It has become quite the therapeutic outlet.
There is no pressure on anyone to say anything all the time. Due to the challenges of life and the different stages that we are all in, not everyone has the time to comment or whatever. And it doesn’t matter. We all know life is going on for each other, and we post what we can, when we can, for who we think needs it. It really has been great. The pressure of “Why didn’t they respond?” or “Did they read it?” isn’t there, at all. It’s so nice.
I think I tangented and forgot my whole reason for writing this week. Apologies.
The other day, I got onto the ol’ Polo and read off their ‘Cowboy names’ to them all. I figured that they needed to know (I know what I wrote). And so, here they are:
Erich: Eddie “Scorpion” Lancaster
Richard: John “Phantom” Murphy
Jason: Eugene “Gunslinger” Lancaster
Andy: Earnest “Phantom” Marsh
Myself: Clinton “Big Bazoo” Marsh
And there you have it. Our ‘Cowboy’ names. They are stupid and funny, and I loved finding that generator. My recommendation? Find a silly name generator and call, or text, or Marco Polo your buddies and share their “Insert name here” with them. Who knows how much fun it could be or the number of great inside jokes that it could lead to? Maybe a lifetime of them.
So long for now, and happy trails from Clinton “Big Bazoo” Marsh and the rest of the gang.
